Youth Services Space Needs

What types of youth spaces are needed today?

West Vancouver Youth Services is developing a recommendation to Council regarding future space needs in West Vancouver, and we want to hear from you.

After a community consultation in 2016, recommendations for youth space needs in West Vancouver were developed and presented to Council. The recommendations were used to inform the delivery of current and future youth services in West Vancouver.

With the closure of the Ambleside Youth Centre and the evolving and changing interests of youth, we need to revisit these recommendations and find out what the space needs of youth are today.

Review the recommendations

The results of the 2016 youth space needs consultation are in the Youth Service Review Implementation Group – Visioning Youth Resources and Space Needs Report. Mayor and Council approved the recommendations outlined in that report.

The recommendations for youth space needs in 2016 were spaces that provided the following:

  1. geographically and centrally located within various regions in the community
  2. dedicated space with a primary focus for use by youth
  3. accessible to transit and safe to access
  4. a range of services, amenities, and youth spaces to serve the diverse needs of youth

The purpose of this consultation was to know if those recommendations (developed in 2016) are still important to youth or youth you know.

Survey

The survey closed on Monday, July 15 at 4 p.m.

Thank you to everyone who participated.
